CHIPS
by Wayne David Knoll
I Like Chips!
Thick, fat, greasy chips
Salty and hot
Golden, tasty,'tato chips
And I like a lot
Chips are easy
Chips are fun;
Not too greasy
Chips are YUUUM!
Hamburgers? They're OK,
'N fish passes -in a pinch;
Best of all - I like just chips,
'Cause chips are cinch.
Chips are easy
Chips are fun;
Not too greasy
Chips are YUM!
Chips come wrapped
in paper parcels
D’licious as
a payday treat!
Chips fill ya' till
ya' belly's full
Chips are just
great to eat.
Chips are easy
Chips are fun;
Not too greasy
Chips are YUUUM!
I Like Chips!
Thick, fat, greasy chips
Salty and hot
Golden, tasty,'tato chips
And I like a lot.
The only trouble,
though, -with chips !
Me belly pushes down
me zip!

The NUNDERS [ We'll Count ]
The NUNDERS:
We'll count like we never counted before
(A Performance Poem)
Hi -Yer maths and nunder numbers!
Nunder numbers, nunder numbers Lo!
I'm sick of numbers being so uniform
Unicorn, luniform, uniform, cuneiform
I'm sick of numbers being the same.
Why can't two plus too be three ?
El-Heaven be four plus seven?
Three-score be sixty one bar one?
And Ten equal to then - less a haitch?
I need to be added on a different scale
I want to count like one in ten.
Let Math-matics mind the attic
Toss Arith-matic in the skip
Sweet Algebra won't multiply
In a jot of just half a tittle.
Give us an ump
for the enth degree
At the piffleteenth hour
in umpteenth time
A skip or two till
eleventy's done to nothing.
Add up some-ones,
multiply ate by hungry
till the count is
a poofteenth zillion in mind
Take away a
tiddle you first thought of
See!
You've got the Nunders of number!
NUNDERS!
(here you hold up both hands with the fingers spread and count in the gaps)
"Wel. Ump. Der. Ruh. Mm. Yer. Beh. En. Ah. Yuno."
All the gaps between the digits on each hand
Are nunders, like impedediments in s.s.sp.speech.
Not numberdread! We need nunders.
Numberdread, numberdread, hunderdread
Numb-dread, Hun-dread,
Numberdread isn't funny!
Humero, numero, numerophobia can be fixed!
I'm sick of numbers being
so so uniform
I'm uncounted in numberosis,
Oh Oh bummertosis
Fancy being scared of the Huns !
Won Hun Dread! Too Hun Dread! Three Hun Dread!
Counting, calculating till None Hun Dread and None
Because! All the Huns are dead with one
Single grain of 'Thou' sand !
Ebbtimer, ebbtimer, oo, oo, oo,
Ebbtimer, ebbtimer, oo, oo, oo!
Ebbtimer, ebbtimer oo, oo, oo.
Ebbtimer ebbtimer oo, oo, oo.
The nunders, the nunders,
the nunders in be tween:
( here you hold up both hands with fingers spread and count in the gaps)
Weltween, Umbtween, Dertween, Ruhtween, Mmtween,
Yertween, Behtween, Entween. Ahtween, Yuno-tween."
Between One and infinity there's lot nots of numbers
Tween one and affinity there's numbers at sea;
Tween one and infinity there's numbers like fishes
With fins to infinity free.
With fins to infinity free, me dear, me dare,
Me near, me there, with fins to finity free.
Tween One and affinity there's lot knots of numbers
To finish at finity free,
Affinity free ? Affinity free !
Fishing the finishing numbers to nought.
We'll finish at finity free, my dear
With the big one ( ) “THE BIG ONE ”
We'll throw back the tads
Get rid of the smidgeons
We'll fish at finity free, my dear
With the big one " Affinity" caught.
One der of wonders between all the numbers
We'll count like we never counted before:
( here you hold up both hands with fingers spread and count in the gaps)
"WEL, UMB, DER, RUH, MM, YER, BEH, EN, AH, YUNO."

Joe's
January
January
is near
the rounda-rounda
slide
January
is over
the mud
custard
January
is only
twentyfive times
as big as
the house
If I run
twentyfive times
around the house
it will be
January
January is
my birthday.

Gocoloco: The Monster
GOCOLOCO
It wheezes, grunts and snorts its nose
It trundles: - its belly tightly under
It spins its legs by the hundreds
Foot-stepping thuds to thunder.
Its back - hard iron and shiny
Its head: - smooth steel and sheer
Its tail curves back along its track
In a roar - a sizing up of fear.
One great eye stares head-on far,
straight as a wild rhino, tearing;
Its broad brow glows like a star
Its Horn lowering in glory.
It comes at speed and pouncing
It shakes the ground it gains
Stones and rails go bouncing
For the train.

Cold Custard
For my brother Melvyn who hated cold custard
Cold custard
Cold custard
I love
Custard cold
With mustard
With mustard !
And covered
In mold !
Cold custard
Cold custard
And a sog of
squogglumpy pie
All slushy
And busted
And squashed
In your eye
